OESP Annual Trade
Show & Convention
After experimenting with the Roadshow concept
in 2014, the Organization of Energy Service Professionals has
returned to the traditional trade show and convention format.
The show, scheduled for May 17-21, 2015, at the Hershey
Lodge, in Hershey, Penn., anticipates an attendance of over
2,000 energy professionals. These include plumbers, HVAC
mechanics, technicians, managers and supervisors, owners and
those who are working in the trades or studying to become an
energy professional.
The trade show will feature over
100 exhibitors and allow attendees
to meet with the manufactures of
new products and emerging tech-
nologies. Attendees are encouraged
to "bring your team." so they can
attend product demonstrations and
hands-on training sessions.
OESP's education schedule fea-
tures both managerial and technical
courses. They will offer management
classes on Monday and technical
classes on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Classes will focus on air condition-
ing, conversion burners, evaluating existing duct systems, ECM
motor technology, reading schematics, low-voltage wiring, and
more. There will be plenty of opportunities to earn NATE and
NORA CEUs.
The convention also features a range of networking and
charitable events. The Opening Reception takes place on May
18, and on May 19 there is a cocktail party followed by the
Awards Banquet that highlights the industry scholarships,
awards and a special recognition of Judy Garber. OESP has been
awarding scholarships to students who are pursuing their educa-
tion in the HVAC field. Last year the association awarded six
$5000 awards to students. Since its inception in 1999, we along
with industry partners have awarded over $250,000 in awards. A
Theme Night Party is held on May 20 to close out the event.
On the fundraising side, there is the 2015 Dave Nelsen Golf
Tournament at the Deer Valley Golf Course in Hummelstown,
Pa., to be held on May 18. The Dave Nelsen Scholarship fund
was established in 1999. Since then, over $250,000 in awards
have been presented to students interested in pursuing careers
in the energy-service industry.
Also scheduled for May 18 is the 10th Annual Care to Ride
Event, the primary fundraiser for the Oil Heat Cares, open to
motorcycles, bicycles, walkers and runners.
FON asked Judy Garber, OESP executive director, for her
take on this year's event.
