plumbers, fuel and pipe. Finally, back to
the Riello alarm contacts. This is taken
from our books on Riello and applies to
both their oil and gas burners.
All of the Riello burners since the 1981
vintage Mectrons and through the models
covered in this book have been equipped
with alarm contacts. These contacts are
line voltage, 120 Vac, so if used with most
central alarm boards a switching relay must
be used. Most central alarm systems operate
on either 9Vdc or 24Vac, so the output from
the RIELLO sub-base must be switched to
protect the board. When in doubt contact
the customer's alarm company. As previ-
ously noted, power comes into the RIELLO
on terminals "L" (120 Vac HOT) and "N"
(120 Vac NEUTRAL), Figure 5-11.
When the burner control goes to
"LOCKOUT", power (120Vac) will now
be present between terminals "L" and "N"
and the center terminal which is designated
by an X in a circle. If 120 Vac is desired to
an alarm or alarm light which is powered by
120 Vac nothing else is required.
I'll come back to alarms in another
article later on and give you some ideas
for gas units. So, that's it, at least for some
power burners, and those central alarm
options will work with anything, even
wood pellets, electric heaters and coal.
See ya!
