Fiscal Year-in-Review Adjustments
D
ue to inconsistencies in the collection of data, State-
Ways would like to retract the 2013 and 2014 Fis-
cal Year in Review features, which ran in the November/
December 2013 and November/December 2014 issues
of this magazine.
While in many cases errors can be fi xed with a simple
correction, in this case that isn't possible. The misreport-
ed data pertains to Pennsylvania, the largest control state
by a two-to-one margin, which skews the overall fi gures
for both years.
The correct FY2013 and FY2014 data for the PLCB
can be found here, as supplied by Oren Bachman, the
Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's Director of Fi-
nance. As indicated, unit sales of wine and spirits each
rose by 2.3 percent between fi scal years 2013 and 2014.
The correct totals for wine and spirit sales (including
state liquor tax) were $2.043 billion in FY13 and $2.107
billion in FY14.
We've also included an updated version of the Key
Statistics chart from the 2014 Fiscal Year in Review
feature. StateWays regrets this error and will amend
the data going forward so that future editions of the
Fiscal Year in Review do not contain the incorrect
data.
