The USGA to return to the Country
Club of Birmingham next year for the
Men's State Team Championship
"Based on the club's rich history of contrib-
uting to amateur golf, we are con dent it will
provide a fantastic environment for this biennial
team championship that brings together amateur
players from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and
Puerto Rico," Diana Murphy, USGA vice president
and Championship Committee chairman, said.
The Country Club of Birmingham has long had
a rich tradition of supporting amateur golf and
will also host the 2016 State Amateur Champi-
onship, which will be the 100th playing of this
championship.

Exciting news that the Country Club of Bir-
mingham has been selected by the United States
Golf Association as the host site for the 2016
USGA Men's State Team Championship. The club's
second USGA championship will be contested
Sept. 28-30, 2016. Which will be only three years
after they hosted the 2013 U.S. Mid-Amateur, won
by Iowa resident Mike McCoy.
