ENGLAND, a Salt Lake City-based refrigerated carrier, now offers a bonus program for all company and independent contractor trainers in its Dedicated and Over the Road divisions. Each apprentice who is trained successfully and upgraded by a trainer becomes a driver in the trainer's network. Once the successful apprentice Fleets enhance trainer, driver pay packages is placed on a truck after upgrade and begins running miles, the trainer makes one cent per mile for every mile the apprentice drives. For apprentices who move into local Intermodal driving posi- tions or work in a salary-based application, the trainer is paid a flat rate as long as the driver is active 14 days out of 30 days each month. CRST EXPEDITED, the largest operating company of CRST International, announced a second $10 million pay increase for experienced drivers. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based company said the increase went into effect Jan. 15 and came 15 months after its first $10 million driver pay increase. AMERICAN CENTRAL TRANSPORT company driv- ers now receive $100-per-day holiday pay while they are at home for Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. If a company driver is driving on any of those days, he or she receives holiday pay in addition to mileage pay. Also, ACT family members now may ride free, doing away with the former family rider pass fee. Also, company driv- ers for the Liberty, Mo.-based dry van fleet now are paid $100-per-day layover pay. FLEETMASTER EXPRESS increased pay for all drivers. The Roanoke, Va.-based com- pany also enhanced its deten- tion pay, holiday and vacation pay and 401(k) programs.
