IS YOUR GAME IN A DROUGHT? Unfortunately, our golf game is very similar to the weather. We are always hoping for a good day but never really know what to expect until we get out on the golf course. Even on the sunny days, we may get interrupted with sudden storms of bad swings. These sudden storms often transcend across multiple rounds, leading us into the inevitable drought. While you may feel like there is no hope left to fix your golf game, take a step back and follow my three keys to end your drought and get you back on the golf course. 1. BUILD A SOLID FOUNDATION Think of how a house is built. First, you lay down the foundation and then build the house around that. Without the foundation, it would make it very difficult to build the rest of the house and most likely it would fall apart. The same idea goes for your golf game! Aligning your self properly to your target, with an athletic posture and correct setup to the golf ball, will give you a solid foundation upon which to build the rest of your golf game. The better foundation you have, the better chance you have at making a good golf swing. 2. PRACTICE WITH PURPOSE I see so many golfers at the range just hitting hundreds of golf balls with no purpose other than to just hit the ball. This is not how you should be spending your practice time if you want to get better. What you should be doing: - Pick out targets where you want to hit each ball. - Use training aids such as alignment sticks to ensure you are aligning yourself properly to your target. - Don't spend all your time on the range. Short game and putting are just as important! 3. SET GOALS No matter what you are trying to achieve in golf or even life, it is extremely important to set goals for yourself. Goals motivate you to work harder and ultimately get better. Setting goals in your golf game may just be the rainmaker that breaks you out of the drought.
