Their goal for every session was to have the kids leave knowing: Water is in the ground, it moves, we use it, and we need to take care of it. "I think it went well," Halmi says. "Some of the kids were really sharp and asked good questions. You could tell they knew what was going on." Among the festival sponsors which generated more than $50,000 for the event were A.O. Smith Water Systems, Baker Water Systems, Flexcon Industries, Flomatic Values, Franklin Electric Co., Grundfos Pumps Corp., Merrill Manu- facturing, Milby Co., Pentair, Preferred Pump, and Xylem Inc. The donations underwrote the cost of the annual event, which was free to the students attending. Gerry Duggan, vice president of sales marketing for Flexcon Industries in Duxbury, Massachusetts, was a vol- unteer at the event for the seventh time. He has three children who have all been students at past festivals. "I enjoy it every year," Duggan says. "You're learning but having fun too. I could tell with my kids they picked stuff up.
