Diversions July 2015 | Overdrive | 59 Say hello to Lindsay Lawler's 'Goodbye Go' Singer-songwriter and Truckload Carriers Association Highway Angel spokesperson Lindsay Lawler released her debut single, "Goodbye Go," to radio in June. It's from her latest album, "Two Peaches Six Cookies," which is available on iTunes and in other formats and digital retailers. "We've been fortunate to provide drivers entertainment out on the road for the past two years," says Lawler of her ongoing performances at truck stops across the nation. "Releasing a single to radio offers a whole new element to this year's tour. It gives me the chance to share my music with a new demographic, as well as provide a voice for those hard-working men and women in the trucking industry." With her album's release, Lawler introduced listeners to a sound she's dubbed "Countrihanna" – an infec- tious beat-driven mix of club and country music inspired by one of her favorite artists, Rihanna. "It's club music that has driving grooves, which makes it great to dance or drive to," she says. "But then it also features fiddle, steel and banjo, cementing that country vibe." Aaron Tippin's '25': A quarter-century of song Longtime country singer-songwriter Aaron Tippin's new "25" double CD (Nippit Records) is part retrospective, part new. The first CD is comprised of 10 of Tippin's past hits, including recogniz- able tracks like "You've Got To Stand For Something," "Workin' Man's Ph.D." and "Where The Stars And Stripes And The Eagles Fly." The second CD features 15 newly recorded tracks — 10 Tippin orig- inals and five cover songs, some of which feature Tippin family members on vocals. The last time Overdrive sat down with Tippin three years ago at Uncle Pete's Truck Stop in Lebanon, Tenn., the former trucker detailed some ongoing work on a series of original trucking songs that he talks further about in a podcast you can find at OverdriveOnline.com by searching "Aaron Tippin 25." Dale Watson reveals his top five trucking songs "Call Me Insane" is the title of the newest slab from no-nonsense country singer-songwriter Dale Wat- son. Known among truckers for his "Truckin' Sessions" series of records – the first released in 1998 and the second in 2009 – he's been active the last year or two with another "Truckin' Sessions" volume (2014). A recent Wall Street Journal fea- ture on Watson also listed his top five trucking songs. Readers will be interested to note that Watson agrees with them on No. 1, at least, based on Overdrive's own reader survey on the top trucking songs of all time, which we conducted in 2012. Watson's list was led by Dave Dudley tunes ("Six Days On The Road" and "Truck Drivin' Son Of A Gun") and finished by Del Reeves' "Girl on the Bill- board," Dick Curless' "A Tombstone Every Mile" and Red Simpson's "Roll, Truck, Roll." A trio of new trucking records Jeremy Ryan Creatives Scan the QR to hear an Overdrive Radio podcast talk with the sing- er as well as samples from the new record. Lindsay Lawler's Truck Stop Tour series, in asso- ciation with the Truckload Carriers Association's Highway Angel program, continues through the fall. This month's dates: July 10, in conjunction with the Iowa 80 Truckers Jamboree in Walcott, Iowa, with the Josh Abbott Band; and July 24 at 7 p.m. at the Petro in Raphine, Va. In addition to finding more about Dale Watson's newest record, readers can stream his "Truckin' Sessions, Vol. 3" 2014 release via OverdriveOnline. com by searching "Dale Watson." By Todd Dills
