test compared to the Chevy Silvera-
do 1500. But what differences there
were made all the difference in this
closely contested comparison.
Of the 11 empirical tests we per-
formed for this comparison, either

GMC's Sierra 1500, with the 420hp 6.2L V8, took top honors in
payload, towing and track performance numbers thanks to the NHT
max-tow package that included 3.42 axle ratio. Its stiffer ride is the
only thing that kept it from taking the top spot from the Silverado.
