USA Groundwater Fund Recipient Drills Eight Wells on Second Georgia Water Well Project The Water Well Trust, a recipient of the National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation's USA Ground- water Fund, drilled eight water wells last summer on its second project in Georgia. The project was located in Ben Hill County, where the existing public water supply infrastructure in the Queensland community was failing and the county couldn't afford the estimated $600,000 price tag for repairs. The Water Well Trust, a nonprofit organization helping Americans gain access to a clean, safe water supply, provided financing for drilling eight new wells, which will serve 12 owner-occupied homes. The total cost of the project was $81,200—with $51,200 being supplied by the Water Well Trust and $30,000 by the county. This is a cost savings to Ben Hill County of $518,500. In 2013, the Water Well Trust completed a successful proj- ect in Jones County, Georgia, partnering with county govern- ment and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs to bring safe drinking water to five low-income families near Milledgeville, Georgia. The Foundation awarded the Water Well Trust a $10,000 grant for this project. To learn more, visit www.NGWA.org/Foundation/ Pages/USA-Groundwater-Fund.aspx.
