The result has been the development of a supercritical technology to ex- tract the essence from buckthorn leaves grown in Mount Tai. Through this groundwork, the company has taken a lead in creating a particular style of Chinese cigarette, with its Mount Tai brand of tea-flavored smokes. According to a company spokesman it has realized the tar- get of "increasing aroma without reducing the original aroma of the leaf tobacco, and has reduced the content of harmful substances without lowering the consistency of substance". The company believes it has created a new feeling in the value of Chinese-style cigarettes. Its marketing department calls it a unique style of "tea aroma, freshness, refinement, comfort, satisfaction, fragrance, sweetness and purity", bringing con- sumers a new mouth feel of "tea aroma that is free from the odor of smoke". Another company, China Tobacco Fujian Industrial, in southeast China's Fujian Province, has responded to the idea of monitoring consumer demands and followed up by expand- ing its production line. Fujian has introduced an "ecological" cigarette product into its time-honored Septwolves brand family. It uses leaf tobacco of the Cuibi No 1 variety grown in the rocky mountain areas of Longyan, Sanming and Nanming, and employs the exclusive 5A production line used for cigarettes of the Septwolves brand. The company has integrated ecological leaf tobacco, eco- logical techniques and ecological technologies in making the new product, and has incorporated what it terms an "ecological aroma" to enrich the mouth feel. This creates a "sense of mild- ness" they say, forming a tobacco aroma that is "ecological, lingering, mild and mellow".
