Hauni AG is the leading company of the tobacco business area of the Körber Group. The acquisition benefits especially the r&d and service capacities of both companies. The key objective is to be able to offer even more innovative products and solutions for customers and to strengthen the strategic position of the joint primary activities. The tobacco market overall is impacted by further regulation and consolidation. The tobacco industry continuously demands improved and increasingly customized solutions for their processes. Both companies are active in the primary business consisting of all process steps from green leaf to the final cut-rag such as sorting, slicing, conditioning, casing, flavoring, cutting, drying, expansion, and cigarette maker feeding. The acquisition complements the current product portfolio of both Hauni and Garbuio Dickinson in this sector and will therefore create more options for integrated solutions for increased customer satisfaction. To reach this objective Hauni and Garbuio Dickinson will coordinate their r&d forces to focus on future-proof solutions. Garbuio Dickinson is one of the leading manufactur- ers of primary equipment. Its more than 300 employees are based in Italy, the UK, Indonesia, and the US. Furthermore, the group maintains a joint venture in India to serve the local and neighboring markets. This ensures best possible customer proximity in its key markets. Mansueto Favaro, managing director and founder of Garbuio Dickinson, will continue to be responsible for the company's operating business as member of the management board. Both companies will continue to act independently in the market under their existing brands, Hauni and Garbuio Dickinson respectively. "Garbuio Dickinson and Hauni will jointly develop innovative products and solutions for the future," said Christopher Somm, c.e.o. of Hauni AG and executive board member of Körber AG. "This will serve all our customers in a market that is heavily driven by new trends and challenged by increasing international regulation. We are pleased to welcome Mansueto Favaro and his team in our organization. Jointly we will strive to meet our customer's high expectations by creating substantially more added value for our customers." "In a market driven by consolidation, Garbuio Dickinson starts the new partnership from a solid position. In Hauni we see the ideal partner to open up new and long-term perspectives for our organization and to inspire our customers with outstanding innovations," said Favaro. Kaymich bulk melt system Kaymich is proud to announce the launch of its new system, de- signed for batch melting/ heating a whole range of products, includ- ing foodstuffs, with the melting profile being fully customisable to meet process requirements. Designed to complement and enhance our existing product range, this new device is primarily targeted at preparation away from the process line. Two standard modes of operation are available, rapid and slow. When operating in rapid mode the product is brought to tempera- ture as quickly as possible, with the profile controlled to avoid any detrimental effects to the product. This heating profile is fully cus- tomisable to suit the product, once at temperature the unit switches to maintain the product at the desired heat, again configurable to suit your requirements. In slow mode the temperature gradient is much more gradual, this allows for thorough heat distribution particularly useful for ma- terial which may be sensitive to rapid heating, or where product has been allowed to solidify within the unit. Once again all the temperatures associated with this mode can be tailored to suit the materials involved. The intuitive touch screen control- ler ensures that the 15 core heaters along with the outer tank heater zones distribute heat evenly. The system with a programmable dispensing rate boasts a maximum of 25 liters per minute. The bulk melt system has recently been installed with a leading cigarette manufacturer, who had a require- ment to melt 50kg of menthol crystals in around 30 minutes. They use it in rapid mode to quickly melt menthol crystal for use in the primary phase of the cigarette manufacturing process.
