The Great West Fleet Executive conference, scheduled for two half- day sessions, is designed to help fleets do business in the West. Both the conference and the trade show will be June 14-16 at the Las Vegas Sands Expo and Convention Center and adjoining Venetian Palazzo Hotel. Last week, the California Air Resources Board issued a public letter to Navistar saying the company's emissions credits for the MaxxForce 13 would expire Feb. 29. Most diesel engine manufactur- C M Y ers chose to use selective catalytic reduction aftertreatment technol- ogy to meet the required emissions levels. Navistar diesel engines use an in-cylinder exhaust gas recircu- lation technology to reduce exhaust emissions and the company is the only North American engine manufacturer to do so. A Navistar executive said the en- CM MY CY CMY K gine submitted to EPA has been "re- fined with an air management system and electronic engine controls." Currently, Navistar diesel engines emit more grams of nitrogen ox- ide than their competitors' engines. But because Navistar exceeded the performance parameters set for earlier emissions reduction regulations, the company was awarded emissions cred- its by the EPA that allow them to do so.
