play in your free time Art Throb The art of teaching by Pete Lundberg Too often, we tend to think of museum offerings as staid and stuffy assemblages. Nothing could be further from the truth, and in February we have an opportunity to see works by artists who are shaping the 21st century art world. From Feb. 4 to April 1, the beautifully expanded Chazen Museum of Art will present "Compendium 2012," a selection of pieces by the faculty of the University of Wisconsin Art Department. This show only occurs every four years, and is a re- markable opportunity for the public to see works in nearly all mediums by 34 active faculty members and affiliates, as well as a dozen emeritus professors. As a bonus, the museum is offering a chance to hear many of the artists publicly discuss their works in a series of lectures planned throughout February and March. We don't often get the opportunity to experience the works of the faculty, as their most obvious duties on campus are to educate.
