11 Industry Focus Thirty new heavy-duty aftermarket profes- sionals graduated from the fourth annual University of the Aftermarket Heavy Duty Leadership education conference earlier this summer. Northwood University says its Heavy Duty Leadership conference, a week- long leadership development program, specifi cally targets mid-career profession- als in the management track within in the North American commercial vehicle aftermarket. The program's curriculum is designed to foster the development of the next generation of heavy-duty parts distribu- tion, manufacturing, service, association, and fl eet management professionals. Class 8 truck sales in 2014 were the strongest since the pre-buy phenomenon in 2006 with more than 380,000 orders placed in the North American Class 8 market, according to industry analyst fi rm ACT Research. CCJ says the segments with the largest percentage of power unit additions this year are fl atbed/specialized/ heavy haul and general freight at 16.7 per- cent and 10.4 percent, respectively.
