In this ISSUE T he 2015 NGWA Groundwater Expo and Annual Meeting is the focus of the October 2015 issue of Water Well Journal as more than 20 pages are dedicated to the biggest show in the groundwater industry. The Expo takes place December 15-17 in Las Vegas, Nevada. All of the days will be filled with a variety of events providing you with the opportunity to learn and impact your business when you return home. You can find out about all of the happenings in the "Expo Highlights" section on page 24. Beginning with the opening day of the Expo, the section covers the key events happening throughout the four days. Included are details on the exhibit hall, lectures, activities, and other things to do enabling you to network with your peers. A fun event to meet up with industry professionals will be the Opening Session and Awards Presentations where attendees will take in a talk from Ryan Hreljac, founder and assistant project manager of Ryan's Well Foundation. He will present the H2O Talk, "Thinking Big at the Age of Six—How One of Tomorrow's Leaders Is Changing the World Today" and detail how his dreams as a 6-year-old have turned into a 15-year-old registered charity that brings life- enhancing safe water, sanitation, and hygiene education to people all around the world. The Expo will also offer something different this year with the William A. McEllhiney Distinguished Lecture Series in Water Well Technology. For the first time, the lecture series will have three former lecturers address the advances made within their specific topic areas since their official McEllhiney lecture year. Participating and the year of their lecture are John H. Schnieders, Ph.D. (2002), Edd T. Schofield (2007), and Marvin F. Glotfelty, RG (2012). Details about the "Expo Educational Opportunities" are on page 29. There are countless ways to learn and they range from workshops to panel discussions and cover a variety of topics. The offerings come in the following categories: Business management. Drilling operations and well construction. Geothermal. Government affairs. Personal/professional development. Safety and compliance. Sustainable and available groundwater. Technical sessions. Water systems. Water quality and treatment. The October issue also features a "Groundwater Expo Q&A" with one of the Expo presenters on page 46. WWJ freelance writer Jennifer Strawn speaks with Mark Reeder, director of innovation and field marketing, North America water systems at Franklin Electric in Fort Wayne, In- diana. Reeder, who has spent more than 20 years in the groundwater industry, is leading a presentation at the Expo titled "Seven Trends and Opportunities Affecting Our Industry." Reeder is going to go over trends such as weather events, technology, green initiatives, energy mandates, and others. He said none will come as a real surprise, but that some people may not have had a chance to think about how these trends affect our industry and offer opportunities. Some of the trends have Reeder excited and he thinks they offer important opportunities for industry professionals, while others he sees as concerning for those in the profes- sion.
