Schramm Inc., a global manufacturer of mobile land- based drilling rigs used extensively in the water, mining, and global energy industries, announced the appointment of Thomas G. Strauss as the company's chief financial officer, effec- tive immediately. Strauss re- places Senior Vice President and CFO John Bellis, who retired October 1 after more than 30 years with the com- pany. For the past five years Strauss has served as CFO of Arbill Indus- tries Inc., a Philadelphia-based manufac- turer and distributor of safety equipment and supplies. Flint & Walling Inc. has ap- pointed Jim Byrom as its new district manager. His area of responsibility will include Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Established in 1866, Flint & Walling is the oldest manufacturer in Kendallville, Indiana. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zoeller Co., headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. Water For People, the Den- ver-based water and sanita- tion nonprofit, announced the appointment of Eleanor Allen as the organization's new CEO. Allen comes to Water For People from Arcadis, an international global design engineering and consultancy firm, where she ran their global water business of more than $450 million as the global director of water. A partnership between AT&T, IBM, and Mueller Water Products has yielded an Internet of Things smart water application that aims to help conserve water by enabling municipalities to prevent large-scale leaks in their infrastructure. Black & Veatch announced its Edmonton, Alberta-based professionals have relocated to larger office space that will accommodate the company's growth plans in Canada. Moving to the new office location on Edmonton's west end provides the space to support existing projects and capture new business. In addition to Edmonton, Black & Veatch has offices in Markham, Ontario, and Burnaby, British Columbia. Ergodyne hosted its 18th annual 65 Roses Golf Classic in July in Prior Lake, Min- nesota. The sold-out event brings together leading safety industry manufacturers, dis- tributors, reps, and end users from all over North America to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This year $234,125 was raised for a total of $2.63 million since the tournament began in 1997.
