MICHAELA MORARD AND MICHEALA WILLIAMS RUN AWAY
"The sun was slightly in my eyes and I knew it
was right on line, but I didn't see it go in. But then
Michaela shouted that it had gone in!"
Williams, who takes instruction from Hank John-
son at Timberline Golf Club in Calera, said that she
and Morard combined really well together. "I'd make
a birdie, then she'd make a birdie…we were having
a lot of fun."
"I'm very excited about the scores we shot," Mo-
rard said. "We came to the nal hole and we knew
we had putts to shoot 59. Micheala's was about 30
feet and it lipped out. Mine was about 18 feet and it
just stayed left of the hole. We both got them to the
hole."
Morard said that she had had a hole-in-one
herself as an 8-year-old. While not in competition, it
was at her Valley Hill, her home course, and was also
from 115 yards. She used a 6-iron.
She credited Jay McLelland, the head golf profes-
sional at Valley Hill, with helping her with her swing.
Both girls talked of their respect for Hartwiger
and Green and how much they enjoyed playing
with them both days in the championship.
Two days for sure that none of these four golfers
will forget in a long time. And, for sure, keep an eye
out for the names of Morard and Williams. I have a
feeling we will be seeing a lot of them in the years to
come.
