Reid has appointed as the director of the Maine Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages & Lottery Operations. Reid has a wide range of experience in management, strategy, sales and marketing experience, including managing director for Jose Cuervo, International….All of Virginia's ABC stores can now stay open on Sundays, depending on which stores the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board chooses to keep open…. Following a long period of analysis and negotiation, the New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) announced it entered into short-term warehouse and transportation contracts with Law Warehouses, Inc. and Law Motor Freight, Inc. The contracts go into effect on May 1, 2012 and run through October 13, 2013. The NHLC is issuing a long- term warehouse request for proposal (RFP) on or about February 29, 2012. "The short-term contracts with Law Warehouses and Law Motor Freight will ensure that the same high quality service continues at the end of our current agreement," explained Joseph Mollica, NHLC Chairman. "We expect that a long-term warehouse contract will result in significant savings for both the New Hampshire Liquor Commission and our business part- ners."…. Spirits company Beam said it has agreed to acquire Irish whiskey producer Cooley Distillery for $95 million. This acquisition marks Beam's entrance into one of the spirits industry's fastest-expanding categories; Cooley currently sells 250,000 9-liter cases per year, divided among its brands, private label products and bulk sales to third party customers….WJ Deutsch & Son is now U.S. importer for LICOR 43, the best-selling Spanish liqueur in the world, and will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities in the U.S…..Vintus has been named exclusive U.S. sales and marketing representative for Tommasi, the producer of well- known Amarone and Valpolicella Classico from Italy's Veneto region…. The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) elected John McDonnell, chief operating officer of Patrón Spirits International AG, as chairman of the Board of Directors for a two-year term. In his role as Chairman, McDonnell will work closely with DISCUS president/ceo Peter H. Cressy and the Board to direct the liquor trade association in setting the organization's strategic goals and policies for the industry. McDonnell replaces James L. Bareuther, who retired from Brown-Forman Corporation as executive vice president and chief operating officer…. Skyy Spirits, a wholly owned subsidiary of Davide Campari-Milano S.p.A. changed its public identity in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico to Campari America. This name change aligns the company more closely with its Milan-head- quartered parent corporation and its affiliates, collectively known as Gruppo Campari, and better reflects the full scale of San Francisco-based Campari America's growing spirits portfolio, the company says. In a related development, Campari America appointed Paolo Perego as chief operating officer. Effective in March, Perego will oversee sales, marketing, finance, legal, and human resources for Campari America's operations in the U.S., Canada,and Puerto Rico, reporting directly to Gerry Ruvo, Campari America ceo and chairman….The Wine Group signed a U.S. distribution agreement with the Bodegas Trapiche, the world's largest Argentine wine brand, effective April 1, 2012….U.S. wine exports, 90% from California, reached a new record of $1.39 billion in winery revenues in 2011, an increase of 21.7% compared to 2010. Volume shipments were up 5.8% to 455.7 million liters or 50.6 million nine-liter cases, according to the Wine Institute…. Sidney Frank Importing Co. promoted Steve Bellini to the position of executive vice president, sales; and Bill Henderson to the position of executive vice president, marketing….
