EquipmentWorld.com | November 2015 15 marketplace | by Marcia Gruver Doyle | MGruver@randallreilly.com JCB SHRINKS COMPACT BACKHOE JCB unveiled its 3CX compact back- hoe loader, which is 35 percent small- er than the company's standard model 3CX, while retaining all the power and speed of the larger model. It comes standard with JCB's LiveLink telematics tracking and monitoring system, deliver- ing machine diagnostic information and combating theft. And in a move that runs counter to the U.S. market's prefer- ence to center-mount backhoes, the 3CX compact will be offered in a side-shift backhoe version only. The Tier 4 Final 3CX compact succeeds JCB's smallest backhoe, the Tier 3 2CX backhoe, and offers signifi cant upgrades, including a 19-percent increase in hydraulic fl ow, a one-touch gear shift and redesigned loader arms. Just 6 feet 3 inches wide and 9 feet tall, the 3CX can travel 25 mph and has 4-wheel steering and a 19-foot turning radius when brakes are engaged. Compatible with both JCB's compact excavator and skid steer attachments, the 3CX has a 26-gpm hydraulic fl ow. Using standard excavator pilot controls, the machine feels familiar to operators who have operated both compact excavators and backhoe loaders. With the capability of up to 20 gpm bi-directional auxiliary hydraulic fl ow, a variety of backhoe attachments can be used. On the back end, two fi xed (10-foot and 12-foot) or extended dipper lengths (12-foot and 14-foot) are available. CARRYING CAPACITY UP BY 50 PERCENT Terramac has launched its largest crawler carrier yet, the RT14, with a carrying capacity 55 percent higher than the popular RT9 model. The RT14 can carry a maximum of 28,000 pounds/12.4 cubic yards and travel up to 6 mph via a 280-horsepower QSC 8.3 Cum- mins engine. Fully loaded ground pressure comes in at 7.5 psi, with unloaded ground pressure at 3.9 psi. Unloaded machine weight is 32,650 pounds. Additional features include a 7-inch touch screen monitor as well as an upgraded joystick control. We're reserving this month's Marketplace to look at what was introduced at the International Construction & Utility Equipment Exposition in Louisville.
