I've been around golf my whole life, having played this great game for over 40 years. For 18 years, from 1994-2012, I'd written about it for GolfSouth Magazine and the Birmingham News. Su ce to say, golf and writing about golf are in my blood. It is from this background of writing over 1000 golf columns for the Birmingham News and producing over 100 issues of GolfSouth Magazine, that Thompson Tees O "Alabama's Golf Insider" was born. Thompson Tees O is YOUR source for citywide and statewide golf. I have the contacts, I have the stories, I know the players and the courses. I have my nger on the pulse of area golf and share that knowledge with my subscribers on a weekly basis. For a small annual subscription of $30 ($50 for two subscriptions), a link to Thompson Tees O will appear in your in-box every Thursday morning, 52 weeks a year. It is a password-protected, weekly golf e-newsletter full of local golf stories. It is "anchored" by my weekly "column" with lots more relevant, timely and local golf content. What could be better than that? And for less than 60 cents a week! I grew up in Wimborne in Dorset in England. I came to the United States in 1989 on a partial golf scholarship to Samford University and played collegiate golf for four years, obtaining an under- graduate degree in Print Journalism in 1993. I have lived in Birmingham ever since. My only sibling is my brother Neil, who also lives in Birmingham and is the Director of Golf Instruction at Oxmoor Valley and Ross Bridge. Click here to learn more about Neil. I was the Editor of GolfSouth Magazine, based in Birmingham, from April 1994 to November 2012, having produced over 100 magazines in 18 years. I was the golf columnist for The Birmingham News from June 1995 to October 2012, having written over 1000 columns in 17 years. I freelance for various national golf publications. I wrote Shoal Creek: A Pictorial History, The First 20 Years, which was published in 1998. I run the GolfSouth Golf Tour, which is going into its 12th year in 2015. Click here to learn more about the tour. I was the former golf coach at Samford University, including as head women's coach for seven years. My coaching role ended June 2008. I was the Media Relations Coordinator for the Dixie Section of the PGA, 2003-05. I am the Media Liaison for the Alabama Golf Asso- ciation, 2009-ongoing. I have been a member of the Golf Writers Associa- tion of America for 20 years. I am on the Advisory Board for the Lady Legacy Scholarship Foundation. I was inducted into the Birmingham Golf Associa- tion Hall of Fame in May 2009. I wrote From Green Valley to Hoover Country Club: 50 Years of Memories, which was published in 2010. I am the Executive Director of the Birmingham Golf Association, 2011-ongoing. My latest book, commissioned by the Alabama Golf Association, titled Alabama Golf Association: The First 100 Years was published in June 2015.
