65 THUNDER PRESS www.thunderpress.net do this correctly. B.S. If you want to do away with a privilege that isn't on the books and is not governed, the fi rst thing you have to do is get it on the books and make some sort of regulation so it is governed by the state. Then down the road you can keep changing and working it until it's gone. This brings us to Assemblymen Bill Quick and Tom Lackey's "bill to regulate the chaos." It seems some out- of-state people have been calling and complaining about the lane splitting. So these two doers of right and of the people have a bill going to the Senate right now that will regulate lane split- ting. I have not been able to fi nd the bill number yet or if there is any time to do anything about it. I am going to keep looking. But all I know now is everyone who rides needs to know about this and this isn't going to go well in the future. Also 36 out of 100 of your readers might agree it's a good thing I don't. The Duck Orange County, CA Point A to point B Sam Jones: I like to ride on sec- ondary roads whenever possible, in fact the slower I go the more I get to sightsee. Have met many nice people as I go through small towns. Now my cousin is proud to say he made 1,000 miles in one day going east; no visit- ing points of interest. Seems to me he is missing a lot but it suits him. Once I only rode 90 miles in one day on my way to Seattle from Visalia, California. HarleyHeather via e-mail HarleyHeather: Congratulations on 90 miles. My personal record is 66 miles, and I was busy rid- ing all day. Of course I stopped to eat breakfast, soak my feet in the river, feed hummingbirds, get ice cream, talk to farmers, get lunch, take a nap under a pine tree, watch clouds, skip rocks in the lake and when I set up camp I had an early cocktail before dinner. —Slippery Sam Now Available!
