his year KEY
Milwaukee is 50
years young. Still the
primary print resource
for visitors, KEY today is
part of the "new media,"
bringing the area's dining,
entertainment and shopping
opportunities to readers
in ways that could not be
imagined half a century ago.
The KEY trademark was
introduced in Los Angeles
during the 1930s. In 1967
when the KEY network of
digest-sized, locally owned
visitor guides was formalized,
an existing Milwaukee visitor
guide was renamed KEY Mil-
waukee and the publication
became a founding member of
the KEY Magazine Group.
In the 1990s, KEY Milwau-
kee's platform grew signifi-
cantly with the introduction of
KeyMilwaukee.com. Today,
social media adds thousands
of interactions daily and the
Keyzine newsletter updates a
loyal following throughout the
Upper Midwest. KeyMilwau-
kee.com is now fully optimized
for smart phones, as is the
entire magazine in digital form
at KeyMilwaukeeMobile.com.
"We're confident that the
best is yet to come," says Beth
Stafford, owner of KEY Milwau-
kee for the last 22 years. This
year associate publisher Laure
Leplae-Arthur becomes pub-
lisher in advance of acquiring
the company. A Glendale resi-
dent and experienced graphic
designer, Ms. Leplae-Arthur in
2015 helped redesign the pub-
lication, website and mobile
products.
