VinSense Software Battles Drought Three Purdue University professors have developed integrated technology that could help grapegrowers and winemakers optimize quality and yields in their vine- yards, while minimizing irrigation water use. PEOPLE Measure Hires Robert Blair Washington, D.C.-based Measure, a leading opera- tor of drones, has hired Robert Blair as vice president of agriculture. A fourth-generation Idaho farmer and a pioneer in applying technology to agriculture, Blair will use Measure's drone as a service to help farmers collect valuable data, while keeping the costs of technology as low as possible. Tapp Label Hires Jeff Licht Napa, Calif.-based Tapp Label Company has hired Jeff Licht as director of quality systems. Licht has more than 20 years of experience in the printing, packaging, automotive and plastics industries. Most recently, he held the position of chief quality officer with CPI Card Group. Canton Cooperage Appoints David Day Canton Cooperage of Lebanon, Ky., has hired David Day as sales representative for Xtrachene (previously known as Xtraoak), the oak alterna- tives division of Canton Wood Products. Day will be responsible for California wine appella- tions including Lodi, Livermore, Sierra Foothills and Central Valley. Previously, Day held winemak- ing positions at Uptick Vineyards and at the Owl Ridge crush facility in Sonoma County. COMPANY NEWS Koch Centralizes Manufacturing Koch Membrane Systems, Inc. (KMS) has announced the centralization of its Puron prod- uct manufacturing at the company's headquar- ters in Wilmington, Mass., where it develops and manufactures membrane products. The consoli- dation will result in significant expansion of the company's existing production capacity. KMS has proposed to close its Aachen, Germany, manufac- turing site. Vinolok/Vinoseal Join Vinventions Preciosa, owner of the Bohemian glass wine closure brands Vinolok and Vinoseal in the Czech Republic, has signed a distribution agreement with the Zebulon, N.C.-based Vinventions for the distribution of Vinolok/Vinoseal in North America. Vinventions, owner of Nomacorc and Ohlinger, expands its portfolio with these new closures fea- turing leakproof seals.
