Maker's Mark Distillery's third still is made of solid copper and stands at approximately 45ft. tall and 3ft. in diameter. DISCUS SUPPORTS TRANS-PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP THE DISTILLED SPIRITS COUNCIL of the United States said the Trans-Pacifi c Partnership (TPP) Agreement, once implemented, will benefi t the U.S. distilled spirits indus- try by opening markets for its products. The historic trade agreement includes Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States and Vietnam. "The TPP includes important new protections for Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey — the top U.S. spirits exports globally— as well as a number of other provisions to help streamline exports of spirits throughout the TPP countries," said Christine LoCascio, Council Senior Vice President for International Trade, who serves as an advisor on two United States Trade Representative Trade Advisory Committees. "For example, for the fi rst time in any U.S. Free Trade Agreement, the TPP agreement includes a separate annex on distilled spirits establishing certain best practices regarding labeling and certifi cation requirements, which will create more predictable rules for exporting U.S. spirits." GALLO TO IMPORT WHYTE & MACKAY E. & J. GALLO WINERY announced that it will be the exclusive U.S. importer for Whyte & Mackay, the 5th largest producer of Scotch whisky in the world. The portfolio that Gallo will import includes The Dalmore and Jura Single Malt Scotch Whiskies and John Barr Blended Scotch Whisky. The partnership expands Gallo's U.S. spirits portfolio with entry into the whisky category. Whyte & Mackay will still play a strong role in strategic marketing, the company says, and will support Gallo's sales and distributor teams with active brand ambassadors. NOLET FAMILY COMMEMORATES 325 YEARS JOANNES NOLET fi rst opened his family distillery's doors in Schiedam, Holland in 1691, and its traditions have passed down from father to son for 11 generations. To commemorate 325 years of distilling excellence at the Nolet Family Distillery, Ketel One vodka has released a limited-edition bottle and new brand campaign. Moreover, Carl Nolet Sr., 10th Generation Master Distiller and Creator of Ketel One vodka, will host a global celebration at the Nolet Family Distillery next May. "Our father has always taught us, as his father did before him, 'Quality before everything,'" said Carl Nolet Jr., 11th Gen- eration of the Nolet Family. The Nolet Family Distillery 325th Anniversary Bottle is now available nationwide. Maker's Mark Adds Still to Expand Production MAKER'S MARK DISTILLERY'S third still has gone live at the company's CONSTELLATION BRANDS ACQUIRES BALLAST POINT ANOTHER WELL-ESTABLISHED craft brewery has been bought by a major alcohol company. Constellation Brands announced that it has successfully acquired the San Diego-based Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits. The purchase price is approximately $1 billion. The Ballast Point beer portfolio includes more than 40 different styles of beer, led by its popular and ubiquitous Sculpin IPA and Grapefruit Sculpin IPA. Ballast Point started in 1996 as a small group of home brewers. It will continue to operate as a stand-alone company with its existing management team and employ- ees running the day-to-day operations.
