StateWays ■ www.stateways.com ■ January/February 2016 6 F Y I Nolet Family Commemorates 325 Years Joannes Nolet fi rst opened his family distillery's doors in Schiedam, Holland in 1691, and its traditions have passed down from father to son for 11 generations. To commem- orate 325 years of distilling excellence at the Nolet Family Distillery, Ketel One vodka has released a limited-edition bottle and new brand campaign. Moreover, Carl Nolet Sr., 10th Generation Master Distiller and Creator of Ketel One vodka, will host a global celebration at the Nolet Family Distillery next May. "Our father has always taught us, as his father did before him, 'Quality before everything,'" said Carl Nolet Jr., 11th Generation of the Nolet Family. The Nolet Family Distillery 325th Anniversary Bottle is now available nationwide. 375 Park Avenue Spirits to Import Saint-Vivant Armagnac The French spirits group La Martiniquaise has named 375 Park Avenue Spirits as the exclusive U.S. importer for its Saint-Vivant Armagnac brand. Produced in France, Saint-Vivant is currently the num- ber two producer of Armagnac worldwide. The brand, which dates back to 1559, is produced from fruit grown in the Bas-Armagnac and Ténarèze regions. Each of the brand's expressions (VS, VSOP, Napoleon, and XO) is presented in bottles with inclined necks that feature a wax seal and parchment label. Gallo to Import Whyte & Mackay E. & J. Gallo Winery announced that it will be the exclu- sive U.S. importer for Whyte & Mackay, the 5th largest producer of Scotch whisky in the world. The portfolio that Gallo will import includes The Dalmore and Jura Single Malt Scotch Whiskies and John Barr Blended Scotch Whisky. The partnership expands Gallo's U.S. spirits portfolio with entry into the whisky category. Whyte & Mackay will still play a strong role in strategic marketing, the company says, and will support Gallo's sales and distributor teams with active brand ambassadors. Beam Suntory Sells Sherry and Brandy Brands Beam Suntory Inc. announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell its Jerez-based brandy and sherry business to Emperador Inc., of the Philippines. The agreement includes the Fundador, Harveys, Terry and Tres Cepas brands, as well as production operations in Jerez and Tomelloso, Spain. The all-cash transaction was valued at 275 million Euros, or $291 million U.S. DISCUS Supports Trans-Pacifi c Partnership The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States today said the Trans- Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agree- ment, once implemented, will benefi t the U.S. distilled spirits industry by opening markets for its products. The historic trade agreement includes Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mex- ico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States and Vietnam. "The TPP includes important new protections for Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey — the top U.S. spirits exports globally — as well as a number of other provisions to help streamline exports of spirits through- out the TPP countries," said Christine LoCascio, Council Senior Vice President for International Trade, who serves as an advisor on two United States Trade Representative Trade Advisory Committees. "For example, for the fi rst time in any U.S. Free Trade Agreement, the TPP agreement includes a separate annex on distilled spirits establishing certain best practices regarding labeling and certifi cation requirements, which will create more predictable rules for exporting U.S. spirits." Maker's Mark Adds Still to Expand Production Maker's Mark Distillery's third still has gone live at the company's production facility at Loretto, KY. This will increase production of Maker's Mark bourbon. The third still is a mirror image of the distill- ery's two existing stills, the company said. This allows Master Distiller Greg Davis to replicate the same process of Maker's Mark production set forth by Founder Bill Samuels, Sr. over 60 years ago. The still was offi cially online Nov. 18. Maker's Mark Distillery's third still is made of solid copper and stands at approximately 45ft. tall and 3ft. in diameter.
