APPRECIATION OF CONFERENCE PLANNERS Putting together a conference of this scope is a complex and time consuming job. It takes a crowd of people and lots of hard work to make it look this good and this easy. We recognize everyone on the conference team who helped make our confer- ence such a success. For every conference, there is a core group of a few volunteers who take the bull by the horns and coordinate the conference to make it work. This year's conference has been exceptional so far, with a great afternoon to come. In gratitude for their splen- did work, the SMA would like to recognize our education and conference planning team for all they have done to make this such a productive and memorable event. Please put your hands together for Sarah Morris, Casey Jogerst, and David Lefcourt. SMA Board Member and City of Charlotte, North Carolina CIP Landscape Coordinator Sarah Morris RECOGNITION OF OUTGOING PRESIDENT Being the president of the SMA is not for the faint of heart. The devotion of our president is critical to our ongoing growth and success. We are a diverse international organization that is involved in important work. Taking on the job of president is an undertaking that incumbents find exhausting at times, but also exhilarating and deeply rewarding. On behalf of all of our mem- bers, I'd like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank our outgoing president, David Lefcourt, for everything he's done this year. —Jeremy Barrick SMA President and San Diego Urban Forestry Program Manager Jeremy Barrick and Syracuse, New York City Arborist Steve Harris 36 City Trees
