MaverickMessenger 13 Driver Profile: Roger Wyble Maverick's 2015 Driver of the Year On January 29, 2016, Maverick announced Roger Wyble of Beulah, Missouri as the 2015 Driv- er of the Year at their annual award presentation. Wyble, a driver in Maverick's temperature con- trol division, has been with Maverick for 19 years, and has been a professional truck driver for 42 years. He has proven himself a leader in the com- pany's fleet—honored with multiple safety awards including a 2 million mile safety award, 10 year safety watch, and a 5 year safety ring. Wyble was also named Driver of the Month in June 2000 and January 2005. He drove in Maverick's flatbed di- vision for 15 years, prior to transferring to the tem- perature control division in 2012. Wyble held October's Driver of the Month title and was nominated by his fleet manager, Monica Garrett. "Roger is a true Maverick. His great attitude and 'can do' spirit contributes to his excellence. He's very self-sufficient and extremely dependable. He is an excellent mentor to the junior drivers, help- ing out anyone he runs across. His professionalism with our customers is above and beyond," said Garrett. "One of the great things about this program is that Maverick's Driver of the Year is selected by his/her peers," said Maverick President John Culp. "We choose someone that will consistently repre- sent our company with pride. Maverick holds this honor in very high regard." Every month Maverick recognizes a driver from the company's fleet who exemplifies the "Maverick Way." All employees then vote from the twelve Driv- ers of the Month to select the Driver of the Year. As Driver of the Year, Wyble will serve as a sounding board for Maverick's fleet, meeting with the leader- ship team on a frequent basis to provide feedback and recommendations. He'll also receive an extra week of vacation time, a $2,500 bonus check, and a custom-made leather jacket. Wyble has been married to his wife, Fay, for 32 years. Together they have 4 children, 9 grand- children, and 3 great-grandchildren.
