Drag Racing: America's Fast Time is a special exhibit at the Harley-Davidson Museum, June 17- Sept. 5. It explores drag racing's roots on the back roads and airport runways of post-World War II America to the raceways of today, where Top Fuel machines hit speeds in excess of 320 mph in a quarter-mile. See and hear Summerfest the world's largest music festival, now in its 49th year. For 11 days, more than 800 bands play across the 11 stages featured on the permanent grounds of Henry Maier Festival Park. Enjoy alternative, rock, country, R&B, pop, reggae and more. It's happening at the lakefront June 29-July 3 and July 5-10. (Summerfest takes Monday, July 4, off.) Lakefront ethnic festivals at Henry Maier Festival Park (Summerfest grounds) celebrate the heritage of Milwaukee residents who emigrated here from Poland, Italy, Germany, Ireland and Mexico. The ethnic celebrations end with Indian Summer Festival, celebrating the Native Americans who were here to greet settlers from throughout the world. Bradford Beach a stroll away from downtown, features great food options, family activities, live music series and volleyball leagues and tournaments. The beach is part of Milwaukee County's outstanding park system. Intriguing side trips feature great attractions in Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha Counties.
