TMC ANNUAL MEETING AND TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGY EXHIBITION EATON, CUMMINS ADD NEW FEATURES TO INTEGRATED POWERTRAINS EATON AND CUMMINS an- nounced new features to their integrated powertrains designed to increase available downspeed- ing options. An additional torque rating of 1,850 lb.-ft. for the 400-475-horsepower Cummins ISX15 can be specified with an Eaton Fuller Advantage C-Ratio 10-speed transmission, an Eaton UltraShift Plus MHP 13-speed transmission or an UltraShift Plus MXP 18-speed transmission. The Advantage transmission has a GCWR of 110,000 pounds, while the UltraShift Plus MHP is rated at 140,000 pounds and the MXP has an unlimited GCW rating. Eaton and Cummins also are planning a Smart- Advantage series transmission with a maximum GCWR of 80,000 pounds to match with the new 1,850 lb.-ft. torque rating. Eaton also announced its new GearLogic technol- ogy, which is integrated with Cummins Adept electronic features and will provide improvements in performance, fuel efficiency and driver confidence. GearLogic allows for the smooth delivery of many of the Eaton transmis- sion and Cummins engine features, including Hill Start Aid, engine overspeed protection, enhanced engine braking, Smart Coast, Blended Pedal and Vehicle Ac- celeration Management. – JASON CANNON Eaton and Cummins are planning a SmartAd- vantage series trans- mission with a maxi- mum GCWR of 80,000 pounds to match with the new 1,850 lb.-ft. torque rating. KENWORTH ANNOUNCES OPTIONS FOR T880, T680 KENWORTH announced a 40-inch sleeper for its T880 and T680 tractors. The sleeper is 260 pounds lighter than the 52-inch regional sleeper, and compared to the 38-inch AeroCab sleeper, the 40-inch sleeper's 22 cubic feet of storage space is greater, while its roof is 6 inches lower at 87 inches, making the 40-inch sleeper suitable for vocational customer requirements. An optional clear back-of- cab diesel exhaust fluid tank configuration for the T880 and T680 is designed to maximize fuel capacity by removing the DEF tank from the frame rail and mounting it above the fuel tank and under the cab. Both models also will be available with the Bendix Wingman Fusion driver as - sistance system as an option. Also, Kenworth is making its Aero Advantage Fairing avail- able for order with the T680 Advantage with 76-inch high- and mid-roof sleepers, while the T370 is now available with Meritor's MFS20 non-drive front steer axles rated from 16,000 to 20,000 pounds and Meritor's MT-44 and RT-46 44,000- and 46,000-pound heavy-duty tandem-drive rear axles. The axles can be spec'd with the Paccar PX-9 engine. – JASON CANNON Meritor's MFS20 front axles are available with 16,000-, 18,000- and 20,000-pound gross axle weight ratings. A 40-inch sleeper for Kenworth's T880 and T680 is now in production.
