N E W 68 commercial carrier journal | may 2016 Driver fatigue monitoring system Seeing Machines' Guardian fatigue management system is a driver-fac- ing dash-mounted camera system designed to capture video of driv- ers falling asleep and driving while distracted. Small units, placed left and right of the camera, emit infrared light, enabling the system to work in the dark and when the driver is wearing sunglasses. The product has an algorithm designed to detect fatigue and distraction. An alarm is triggered by certain movements, such as eyelids closing or the head nodding. The alarm consists of seat vibration and audible alerts such as low rumbles, beeps and a whistle. Seeing Machines, SeeingMachines.com Dashcam with built-in GPS Cobra's Drive HD CDR 875 G dashcam has a built-in GPS designed to allow drivers to receive updates from other drivers about road conditions. The road-facing camera is full 1080P high-definition and provides a 160-degree viewing angle. It features a G-Sensor designed to trigger the unit to automatically and perma - nently protect clips if an impact is detected. The dash- cam also offers a "parking mode" motion sensor that is enabled when the truck is parked; the added security feature captures movement in the camera's viewing eye. Cobra Electronics, Cobra.com New sizes for tire lineup Uniroyal has added two sizes to its com- mercial truck tire line. The RS20, a Smart- Way-verified regional all-position tire, now is available in size 255/70R22.5 for pickup-and-delivery vehicles and trail- ers, while the HS50 now is available in size 425/65R22.5 for on-/off-road dump trucks and concrete mixers. Launched in January, the Uniroyal tire portfolio now consists of six tread designs with 28 total sizes. Uniroyal, UniroyalTruckTires.com LDWS, driver monitoring integration Wabco's next-generation OnLane lane departure warning system features a high-res- olution camera integrated with SmartDrive's video-based driver performance management system. Wabco's OnLane camera-based LDWS continuously monitors the vehicle's position within lane markings and alerts the driver via visu - al, audible or haptic warnings to take action when it detects unintentional lane changes. SmartDrive's system incor- porates video recording and near real-time video analysis that facilitates driver coaching to improve driving efficiency and support enhanced road safety. The system's camera combines the functionalities of lane marking detection and video streaming and delivers improved lane marking recog - nition due to an intelligent lane tracking algorithm. Wabco, Wabco-Auto.com | SmartDrive, SmartDrive.net Curtainside trailer systems Kinedyne's Kin-Sider and Kin-Slider systems address weaknesses such as single-point latching, moisture intrusion, mechanical failure, graphic fading and fungal growth that can affect existing curtainside systems. The Kin-Sider employs fa - miliar fasteners at the bottom of the curtainside, but a proprietary latching is designed to enable the curtain to be opened and closed effortlessly within seconds, an advantage for those with chassis-mount- ed truck bodies that now use roll-up doors and traditional curtain walls. The Kin-Slider opens and closes at both ends of the trailer, and cargo can be fully accessed and the curtain closed again within a matter of moments. The system has a full-length vertical multi-latch closure system with an adjacent all-in-one latch release mechanism located both forward and aft. Kinedyne also can apply customer graphics to the base curtain material. Kinedyne, Kinedyne.com
