SCHEDULE 2012 CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES Men's Mid Amateur Championship Males age 25 and older June 11 – 13 Summerland G&CC, Summerland Senior Women's Championship Females age 50 and older June 18 – 20 Highland Pacific GC, Victoria Women's Amateur Championship Female – no age restriction July 3 – 6 Christina Lake GC, Christina Lake Women's Mid Amateur Championship Female – age 25 and older July 3 – 5 Junior Girls' Championship Females age 18 and younger July 10 – 13 Osoyoos G&CC, Osoyoos Christina Lake GC, Christina Lake BC Amputee Golf Association Open Current BCAGA Members July 7 – 8 Quilchena G&CC, Richmond The Senior Women's Championship is taking place at Highland Pacific Golf Club in Victoria, a facility that will be a great test for the women. After a number of medical setbacks over the past couple of years, Jackie Little of Port Alberni will be looking to defend her 2011 Championship and vie for her third title overall. No doubt to be hot on her heels are previous champions and fellow competitors Alison Murdoch of Victoria, Phyllis Laschuk of Vancouver and Holly Horwood of Vancouver. All four of these players and many more in the field have a legitimate chance at bringing home the hardware. At the Junior Boys' Championship being hosted by Sunshine Coast G&CC, any number of up-and-coming Junior Boys' Championship Males age 18 and younger Supplemental Qualifier July 8 Championship July 10 – 13 Sunshine Coast GC, Roberts Creek Senior Men's Championship Males 55 and older July 16 – 18 Nanaimo GC, Nanaimo youngsters could take the cake. A couple players to watch are the duo of Team Canada members Adam Svensson (2011 Junior Boys' champion) and Kevin Kwon (2011 Canadian Junior and Juvenile Champion), 2011 Western Canada Summer Games Champion Mark Valliere of Nanaimo, Trevor Yu of Vancouver (2011 Juvenile Boys' champion) and Curtis Chan of Richmond, a stalwart competitor. The Junior Girls' Championship being played at Osoyoos G&CC promises nothing short of fireworks as some of the favourites for the B.C. Women's Amateur will also be featured on this list. Jisoo Keel and Taylor Kim are the favourites followed closely by the talented Alix Kong of West Vancouver and Team Canada member Anica Yoo BC Summer Games Males & Females 12 to 16 years July 19 – 21 Hazelmere Golf Course, Surrey BC Amateur Championship No Gender or age restriction Supplemental Qualifier July 22 Championship July 24 – 27 Swan-e-Set Bay, Pitt Meadows Juvenile Girls' Championship Females age 16 and younger August 21 – 23 Princeton GC, Princeton of Port Coquitlam who placed tied for runner up at the 2011 Canadian Junior Girls' championship. The Juvenile Girls' and Boys' Championships are being held at Princeton GC. These events will see one boy and one girl prove that they are the next players to look out for on the amateur scene. Keanna Mason of Pitt Meadows is a pre-season favourite based on her play at the 2011 championship. Other players who could cast their names in British Columbia golfing history are Kathy Lim of Langley, Naomi Ko of Victoria and up-and- coming sister of Taylor Kim, Michelle Kim of Surrey. On the boys' side, the clear-cut favourite is not so easy to pinpoint. Zach Anderson of Nanaimo, Marcus Brown of Surrey, Kevin Vigna Juvenile Boys' Championship Males age 16 and younger August 21 – 23 Princeton GC, Princeton Bantam Girls' Championship Females age 13 and younger August 27 – 28 Merritt GC, Merritt Bantam Boys' Championship Males age 13 and younger August 27 – 28 Merritt GC, Merritt of Coquitlam and Alex Francois of Burnaby could all take the crown, as could many others in the talented field that is expected at the championship. Rounding out the 2012 Championship Series Schedule is the Bantam Championships that feature boys and girls' 13 years and under at Merritt GC. In the girls' championship, Sumie Francois of Burnaby has a shot at claiming first. Keep your eye on Shirin Anjarwalla of Nanaimo and Abigail Rigsby of Courtenay, both attendees at B.C. Golf Regional Camps in 2012. On the boys' side, 2011 champion A.J. Ewart of Coquitlam looks to defend his title and will be chased by Roy Kang of North Vancouver who looks to capture a Bantam title before he is no longer in that division. 2012 BRITISH COLUMBIA GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS G
