GOLF REPORT 2012 BC ROCKIES / KOOTENAYS commissioned by Cook Carleton Architects for the updating of our 44 year old renowned course. Of which to date we have created a fourth set of tee boxes in order to realign the yardages of our course so that it is playable for all levels of golfers, especially the forward tees so that ladies and high handicappers are more comfortable playing Kokanee and their experience is more satisfying. This was completed in the fall of last year and this year we will be fully functional on all four distances. The plan called for a complete rebuild of all of our 66 bunkers on the course with drainage, liners and a new custom blend of white silica sands specifically mixed for our environment. This year will mark the first time in the 44 years of Kokanee's existence where we have complete and have consistent championship grade bunkers to match the championship calibre course design. The Columbia Valley Golf Trail Group Of Courses www.golfcolumbiavalley.ca 877-966-2266 With nine great courses to choose from, to say that the line-up here is strong is an understatement. Many of the courses in this mountain-covered region make perennial appearances on Canada's Top- 100 list. At the north end of the trail, located in the Radium Hot Springs are the Springs at Radium and the Radium Resort Course. Drive south through the valley towards Invermere-on-the-Lake for about 15 minutes to get to Eagle Ranch, Copper Point, and The Ridge at Copper Point. Greywolf is located west of Invermere about 20 minutes up a beautiful mountain road towards Panorama Mountain Village. To get to Windermere Valley head south of Invermere towards Windermere for about 5 minutes. At the south end of the trail, and about 15 minutes from Windermere, you'll find Riverside and Mountainside located in the quaint village of Fairmont Hot Springs. And for 2012, The Columbia Valley Golf Trail Courses have some great promotions, contests and events. First you can win an all expense paid 38 trip to the 2012 PGA Championship simply by playing one of their courses between now and June 29th, 2012. You can enter every time you play! The other contest is a great draw prize for getting the CVGT e-mail newsletter. Signup on their website and you will be entered to win 9 free rounds (one round at each member course). Make sure you tell them you saw it in Inside Golf. The big event for the year is the Kelly Hrudey & Friends Charity Golf Classic. Copper Point Golf Club will host the Inaugural Kelly Hrudey & Friends Charity Golf Classic August 15 & 16 2012. Featuring 36 celebrity players and a public concert, the two-day event will raise awareness and funds for youth. Over the last two years we have implemented our 5 year master-planned course refresh, 2012 KOOTENAY-ROCKIES UPDATE As well we have had a new and exciting addition to our onsite accommodations with the completion of our first 3 of 17 cottages located deep in the cedar trees along the number 12 fairway. These full-featured custom cottages embellish true luxury for the discerning Kokanee customer. April marks the completion of the first 12-plex Villa building, similar in finishing to the cottage located on Pinnacle Ridge overlooking the course on one side and the Kokanee Glacier on the other. This first building's completion launches the redesign of the inner core of the Kokanee Springs Resort, moving the heart of the resort up on the ridge and creating a golf cart community with a future clubhouse and spa as well as the additional 5 villa buildings and 14 more cottages."
