Grundfos Pumps Corp. appointed Dieter Sauer as re- gional managing director of the Americas region. In this role, Sauer will oversee all aspects of the global pump manufacturer's North and South American business, including driving regional growth and maintaining a top-motivated employee workforce. Sauer holds more than 20 years of pump indus- try experience, most recently serving as President of Grundfos Water Utility, the Grundfos-owned water utility company based in Aurora, Illinois. Boart Longyear appointed professor Anton Kepic as the Boart Longyear professorial chair at Curtin University, based in Western Australia. The $1.4 million investment to the university will support high-profile research in exploration geophysics, including the development of advanced instrumentation and the expansion of research capabilities in instrumenta- tion and logging-while- drilling (LWD) technology. Loveland, Colorado-based company Hach is breaking ground on a multimillion dol- lar research and development facility on its existing two- building campus. The official groundbreaking ceremony was scheduled at the future construction site, south of the facility. The new building will be almost 86,000 square feet and will house state-of-the- art work spaces for Hach's development teams, with multiple testing and develop- ment laboratories. All exist- ing research laboratories and facilities will move into the new building, providing associates with the most advanced equipment and resources while creating room to expand and add associate work spaces in the existing buildings. King, 59, joined the family business in 1978, which he grew over the years to 11 locations in four states. He was an active member of the Water Systems Council, a member of the National Ground Water Association, and other industry associations. Burnet Chalmers of Milby Co. established the Water Well Trust Henry King III Memorial Fund with contri- butions going to provide a water well for a needy family.
