Fleet News 78 | Overdrive | August 2016 By Dean SmallwooD TOP DRIVER TO WIN MOTORCYCLE DECKER TRUCK LINE and Zylstra Harley-Davison are teaming up to recognize Decker's most outstanding driver for 2016. The promotion is part of a new Decker Driver of the Month/Driver of the Year program to reward the fleet's top truck drivers on three levels: Drivers of the Month, Division Drivers of the Year and Grand Champion Driver of the Year. As part of the new incen- tive program, the Fort Dodge, Iowa-based fleet will reward one Grand Champion Driver of the Year with a new 2016 Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle, $500 in motor clothes and $500 in motorcycle parts and accessories provided by Zylstra Harley-Davidson of Ames, Iowa. The win- ner also will receive a Grand Champion tractor door decal. HONORS The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance named SCHNEIDER NATIONAL driver Bob Wyatt the winner of its 2016 International Driver Excellence Award. Wyatt, a Schneider Haul of Fame inaugural inductee who has driven for 51 years and nearly five million miles without a crash, is the Green Bay, Wis.- based company's only driver in its 80-year history to receive both its 40-Year Consecutive Safe Year Driving Award and 4 Million Safe Miles Award. CVSA will recognize Wyatt at its Annual Conference and Exhibition, set for Sept. 19 in Little Rock, Ark. RECRUITING Chattanooga, Tenn.-based truckload company U.S. XPRESS unveiled a military veteran hiring initiative for drivers, mechanics and office employees.
