commercial carrier journal | august 2016 39 technology Trucker Path increases parking data by 1,000 locations T rucker Path announced that its trip-planning app for drivers, Trucker Path Pro, has been updated with an additional 1,000 parking loca- tions, bringing its total to more than 27,000 locations along the National Highway System. Trucker Path Pro uses crowdsourc- ing technology to capture information on parking availability from a user community of more than 430,000 drivers, or 30 percent of all U.S. Class 8 drivers. The app gives users both real-time and predictive information to find available truck parking at locations by time of day and day of week. It is avail- able to company drivers and owner- operators as a free download on iOS and Android devices. "We are committed to improving the shortage of truck parking by provid- ing drivers with the most accurate and detailed information that is available today," said Ivan Tsybaev, founder of Trucker Path. "By helping drivers locate parking and optimize their stops along their routes, Trucker Path Pro contributes to safety, compliance and job satisfaction in the trucking industry." As many of the recently added park- ing locations also sell fuel, Trucker Path Pro concurrently has expanded its nationwide cover- age of real-time fuel pricing information. Trucker Path also offers a free optimized freight marketplace supported by a community of freight companies and motor carriers. The Trucker Path Pro "chatbot" option for Facebook's mes- senger app works by responding to a driver's location-based text mes- sage to provide the latest updates on nearby parking availability, weigh stations and other facilities. The company said the Facebook op- tion helps truckers further optimize their trips and save time and money. Research from the app's user community shows drivers are saving 51 minutes per trip on average, translating to $600 in monthly savings, Trucker Path said. Tsybaev said the idea for the app came from the CB radio, which drivers have used for decades to share infor- mation on the road. – Aaron Huff Nothing is more important than having your driver return home safely.
