L&I: Please give us a brief update regarding your association:
what's new or different, and what should our readers know?
Hickman: At NALP, we are focused on growing the industry and
helping members solve their biggest challenges. We are paving the
way for industry growth through our advocacy efforts; reaching
millions of consumers through the media and directly with the
launch of the LoveYourLandscape.org website and social media
presence. We have also recharged our government-relations
efforts under the guidance of our new Public Affairs Advocacy
Council and through our new strategic plan, we are making
progress on H-2B and pesticide issues. We are also offering new
education options; launching regional and virtual conferences,
and focusing on leadership development opportunities.
Hamlin: The Irrigation Association has had a busy 2016. In July,
the association launched Irrigation Today, a quarterly publication,
focusing equally on agriculture and landscape professionals.
Content, written by industry leaders, features topics such as
sustaining water resources, smart technologies, drought, and
irrigation system maintenance and repair.
The association has had great response from the fi rst issue,
and is looking forward to continued success.
