First-Timers and New Members Meet-and-Greet Tuesday, December 6 Wednesday, December 7 7–7:45 a.m. Enjoy a cup of joe and get charged up before you start your day. Meet other first-time attendees and new NGWA members. NGWA staff will present a short five-minute presentation on what you can expect during Groundwater Week, provide assistance on download- ing the Groundwater Week app and making your way around the show, highlight some of the don't-miss sessions, and be on hand to answer any questions you may have regarding the event or NGWA. MGWC Luncheon Tuesday, December 6 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. The Master Groundwater Contractors Luncheon is an ideal way for MGWCs to visit with old friends as well as greet the newest entrants into the ranks of the green jackets. (This is open only to MGWCs and their spouses. Ticket required. The per person cost is $40. Registration must be made by November 4 to allow time for accommodations.) Next Gen Groundwater Professionals Meet-Up Tuesday, December 6 4–5:15 p.m. Students and young professionals are invited to share their experiences on get- ting started in the groundwater industry with new friends. NGWA staff will also be on hand to answer any questions on how the Association can help young people grow and get ahead in their chosen field. Affiliate Organization Peer-to-Peer Meeting Tuesday, December 6 4–5 p.m. The annual meeting of Affiliate Organization executives and officers, this open forum is a great place to discuss issues facing your state and provides the opportunity to receive feedback from fellow association leaders on how they have managed similar situations. (Open to Affiliate State executives and officers.) Attendee Welcome Reception Tuesday, December 6 5:30–7 p.m. Meet up with old friends and make new ones at this annual crowd-pleaser that takes place at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino—Groundwater Week's headquarters hotel. It's a great way to unwind after a full day of educa- tional offerings. This year, the Attendee Welcome Reception is open to all the Groundwater Week attendees and Irriga- tion Show attendees and exhibitors with a full registration. NGWA Divisional Membership Meetings Tuesday and Wednesday, December 6-7 If you're an NGWA member, take part in your divisional membership meeting. Please check the program for room locations. ● Contractors Division December 6, 1–2 p.m. ● Suppliers Division December 7, 7–8 a.m. ● Scientists and Engineers Division December 7, 8:30–9:30 a.m. ● Manufacturers Division December 7, 10–10:45 a.m. Keynote Session Wednesday, December 7 9:30–10:45 a.m. "Water for Food Security: Solutions for the Context" is the focus of the keynote address by Peter McCornick, Ph.D., PE, D.WRE, an internationally known expert in water, food, and environmental research. McCornick, the new executive direc- tor of the Daugherty Water for Food Institute at the University of Nebraska, will draw on insights gleaned from his work in Africa and Asia, as well as the United States. His presentation will consider the different contexts of the water-for-food challenge, and ex- plore some of the potential solutions and opportunities to systematically address the challenges. Particular emphasis will be given to agricultural water management solu- tions, in terms of technologies, practices and policies, and to the opportunities to address the sustainability of critical groundwater resources. The session welcomes all Groundwater Week attendees and Irrigation Show attendees. United Rentals is the sponsor of the Keynote Session. Exhibit Hall The Exhibit Hall will be packed with the latest products from the groundwater industry's manufacturers and suppliers on thousands of feet of exhibit space. Make sure to leave plenty of time to be in the hall during the 12 hours it is open.
