18 The Great American Trucking Show MILITARY BBQ champion Myron Mixon making GATS appearances Myron Mixon, a four- time BBQ World Cham- pion and winner of more than 200 BBQ Grand Championships, will host a "Meat and Greet" at the TA-Petro Truck Parking Community during GATS. The event, hosted by Triumph Business Capi- tal, will be held Thursday, Aug. 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Triumph BBQ "Money Pit" in the park- ing lot. Free barbecue brisket and ribs featur- ing Mixon's rubs and sauces will be served. Mixon will also make an appearance and hold an autograph session at Triumph's booth on the show floor (#12087) from 12-2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26. Visitors to the booth will have the opportunity to take home free samples of Mixon's rubs and sauces. "I am really honored to be invited to the Great American Trucking Show," Mixon said. "First of all, I've pulled trailers all over this country, so I have first-hand appreciation for the men and women who keep America rolling. It's also an opportunity to see if a few of my Tri- umph BBQ team stu- dents learned anything at my Jack's Old South BBQ school. But, you know, this is my demographic: people who work hard and like good food. I don't really cater well to the skinny jean crowd." Triumph Business Capital provides invoice factoring and payment processing for the trucking industry and other businesses. Myron Mixon, a four-time BBQ World Champion, will hold a "Meat and Greet" at the truck parking lot, as well as an appearance at Triumph Busi- ness Capital's booth on the GATS show floor. 5K charity run/walk to benefit truckers The Progressive Com- mercial Fit for the Road 5K Run/Walk will be held at GATS on Saturday, Aug. 27. The event is geared to promote a healthy lifestyle for truckers, and it bene- fits a cause for truckers. Registration is $30 prior to the morning of the race and $40 onsite, with all proceeds going to the St. Christopher Truckers Devel- opment and Relief Fund. The St. Christopher Fund is a truck driver charity that helps drivers whose med- ical problems have led to financial hardship. The fund is also working to provide programs that will benefit professional drivers and the trucking industry. Registration/check-in will begin at the TA-Petro Com- munity Tailgate at Fair Park at 6:30 a.m. with a 7 a.m. race start. Roundtrip shuttle service will be provided from the Convention Center at 6 a.m. The run is being supported by Right Weigh Inc. (#13057) and Trucking Solutions Group (#21169). GATS GIVES BACK
