AGGREGATES MANAGER / December 2016 17 Bucket and linkage options Case G Series wheel loaders feature a range of bucket and linkage options to optimize each machine to its application. "We understand that customers use these machines in a variety of applications," notes Andrew Dargatz, Case Construction Equipment brand marketing manager, wheel loaders. This means that a variety of bucket sizes and styles, as well as linkage options, are available from the factory. Linkage options include Z-bar (for breakout force and general operation), XR (extend- ed reach), and XT (tool carrier/ parallel-lift confi guration). Each loader comes standard with a four-speed PowerShift transmis- sion and an optional fi ve-speed transmission with lock-up torque converter available on the 721G, 821G, and 921G for roading speeds up to 25 miles per hour. Each loader also provides a number of tire and axle options based on operating environment. The 521G through the 821G feature a standard limited slip differential that equally supplies torque to each side of the axle and automatically applies addi- tional torque to the gripping tire. The 921G through the 1121G feature a heavy-duty axle with open differential for working on hard packed or improved surfaces, especially when using solid tires. All models are available with an optional heavy-duty axle with auto-locking front differential that is also ideal for use on hard surfaces and with solid tires and, depending on condi- tions, can transmit 100 percent of the front axle tractive effort to the gripping wheel. The auto-locking front differential is particularly advanta- geous for digging and loading applications, Dargatz says. When the loader is going into a pile in fi rst gear and hits 25 percent of its tractive force, the differential automatically locks up the front tires and increases the amount of tractive force to those tires to improve loading ability. Snow tires are becoming an increasingly popular tire op- tion. "Snow tires are also excellent in other slippery conditions," Dargatz says, adding that Case sees a lot of growth among op- The one-piece glass windshield provides excellent visibility and allows the wipers to clear more glass during adverse weather.
