AGGREGATES INDUSTRY OUTLOOK Aug. 2016 Sept. 2016 Oct. 2016 Dec. 2016 Jul. 2016 Nov. 2015 Dec. 2015 Jan. 2016 Feb. 2016 Apr. 2016 May 2016 Jun. 2016 Mar. 2016 100 104 108 112 116 120 124 128 132 136 140 Aggregates Industry Outlook 130.99 125.60 127.51 128.61 131.68 128.99 126.03 128.15 111.42 109.80 111.00 108.08 119.44 In November, the Aggregates Industry Outlook (AIO) dropped 2.63 percent from October, to an overall score of 108.08, its lowest score to date. Most responses were submitted prior to Nov. 8, with a slight increase among responses that came in after the elec- tion. While questions about short-term prospects were very close to October responses, long-term responses expe- rienced the greatest fl uctuation. When asked about the outlook for the industry as a whole, responses dropped from 3.44 to 3.27 (-0.17). The response for tons of aggregate sold in the next year fell even more, from 3.67 to 3.45 (-0.22). Again, these responses were submitted before the presidential election, which saw stocks for companies such as Vulcan Materials Co. and Martin Marietta Materials soaring to all-time highs. Be sure to complete the December survey and share your thoughts on how Donald J. Trump's presidential upset will impact your business. While there are many large projects in the planning and approved stages, funding has not been released, and the election results may have an impact on the allocation of those investments. — Daryl Zeiner, Sales Manager, The H&K Group I hope, along with my customers, that whatever way these elections turn out — both presidential and congressional seats — that the transition will go smoothly and, maybe, both parties could work together for a more positive outlook. It would be nice to bring a little common sense into the rhetoric. — Dave Shobe, Regional Sales Manager, Miller Wire Works, Inc. The third quarter results reported by the major producers remain encouraging. Hopefully, we will see more infrastructure investment after Nov. 8. Interest continues in greenfi eld sites in the Southeast and Texas. — O.F.
