LEGAL LANE driver has a much lower BAC to be arrested for DUI in a commercial vehicle. It only takes a BAC of 0.04 for a CDL driver but 0.08 for a non-CDL driver. So I guess you could say the four-wheelers can be twice as drunk as a CDL driver before they get arrested, which may explain why over 75 percent of car-truck accidents are the fault of the four-wheeler. If you have a job where your income is based upon your ability to drive, then you should take a cab, hire Uber or have a designated driver every time you drink away from home. Don't take the chance of losing your income and get- ting hit with around $10,000 fines, costs and attorney fees to fight a DUI. bdj Jim C. Klepper is President of Inter- state Trucker Ltd., a law firm entirely dedicated to legal defense of the nation's commercial drivers. Interstate Trucker represents truck drivers throughout the forty-eight (48) states on both moving and non-moving violations. Jim is also president of Drivers Legal Plan, which allows member drivers access to his firm's services at greatly discounted rates. Jim, a former prosecutor, is also a registered pharmacist, with considerable experience in alcohol and drug related cases. He is a lawyer that has focused on transportation law and the trucking industry in particu- lar. He works to answer your legal ques- tions about trucking and life over-the-road and has his Commercial Drivers License. 800-333-DRIVE (3748) or www.inter- statetrucker.com and www.driverslegal- plan.com 62 January 2017 BestDriverJOBS www.bestdriverjobs.com
