Overcoming Challenges and Destruction 2013 EL RENO, OKLAHOMA TORNADO e 2013 El Reno tornado was a large and intense EF3 tornado that occurred over rural areas of Central Oklahoma during the early evening of May 31, 2013. e widest tornado in recorded history, it was part of a larger weather system that produced dozens of tornadoes over the preceding days. During that event, the tornado struck the north side of the DOT-Line building. All was lost except the exterior walls. "ankfully, no one was in the building at the time, and we did not have anyone hurt," Scott explained. e space remains empty at the present. It took 2 years to complete the current office area. "We have been in our new space for less than a year, and it's nice to be settled again." Resilient - 30 years of hauling with loyal customers from humble beginnings in a single hotel room. Because of their ability to provide customers with consistent and expedited transit times on both truckload and less than truckload shipments, Dot-Line continues to be one of America's fastest growing carriers. highest priority, Scott appreciates all of the extra amenities and the fact that Volvos are extremely driver friendly. "ere are lots of little goodies inside of that truck, and that's huge. Drivers love all of that stuff." e residual values, emissions and technology are other selling points for Scott. "I do my studies and Volvo Trucks hold their value well. In our business it's all about uptime. Volvo emissions are great, and they've been doing it the longest. Because of that, obviously you don't have the breakdowns. Volvo is ahead of the game when it comes to emissions. ey offer the best technology out there and are way ahead of the curve. Everyone else is still chasing them." "Believe it or not, if you walk the driver out to the lot, hands down, that driver will take a Volvo before any other truck in my fleet. It's been that way for the last 3 years, and our drivers love them. I buy trucks for the drivers, not myself. You won't get many pictures of our Volvo's out here on the lot. Most are out working because that's what my driver's want. I feel good in knowing that Volvo has the highest safety standards. ey are wonderful on safety. As a driver, you feel a part of the road, and everything is wide open, whereas most trucks are not that way. Volvo's have very minimal blind spots, and that's extremely important for drivers today. ey really like that and feel more comfortable and safer." Volvo takes pride in recognizing itself as being a leader in driver safety and driver recruitment. "My last Volvo purchase was with Bruckner's - Oklahoma City working with Don Fulton. He is easy and good to work with…very pleasant, professional and not pushy. I like guys that act quickly, and like to get it done." Scott is glad to see that Bruckner's is now able to handle the over the road customers like himself. "ey have changed their business model over the years to support the over the road customers, and that's huge. e way that they are now running their operation makes them a big time player, and I really like what they're doing. I have also had good luck working with the Amarillo and Albuquerque locations. Volvo has come a long way, and Bruckner's has come a long way. ese guys were persistent and kept coming and coming, and eventually so did my business." 7 B R U C K N E R M A G A Z I N E • J A N U A R Y / F E B R U A R Y 2 0 1 7 Feature Story DOT-LINE TRANSPORTATION
