40 | Overdrive | February 2017 Custom Rigs ReadeR Rigs Workin' the farm Lynton Yost of Dayton, Ohio, owns this 2015 Peterbilt 389 glider and pulls a 2016 Mac half-round to haul agriculture products such as gypsum, grain, fertilizer, mulch and feeds through Kentucky, the Carolinas, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. The truck is powered by a 650-hp Cummins ISX with an 18-speed and 3:70 rears. It has an aftermarket visor, grille and rear fenders, along with a front air-ride suspension and rear light panels. Custom dairy-hauling 379 David Ford, owner of Kittyhawk Express of Arlington, Texas, is under contract with Western Dairy Transport of Cabool, Missouri. He uses his 2007 Peterbilt 379 to haul milk, cream and whey, eggs and orange juice across the lower 48 states. The truck is powered by a Caterpillar C15 and an Eaton- Fuller 18-speed with 3:36 rears. Ford customized the engine by switching from a twin turbo to a PDI single turbo with a PDI Stage 1 tune. Canadian steel John DeGroot of Woodstock, Ontario, uses this 2016 Kenworth W900L to haul steel into the United States from Canada, primarily running from Ontario to the Great Lakes states with aver- age payloads of 90,000 pounds. The truck is powered by a 550-hp Cummins ISX, an 18-speed and 3:73 rears. It is all stock except for LED lights on the breathers, projection headlights and a LED headlight bezel.
