The company said the raise, combined with its incentive and com- pensation programs, means that new- hire over-the-road drivers with one year of experience can start at 44.5 cents per mile. Team driv- ers, owner-operators and hourly California drivers also received pay increases. CFI also is purchasing 626 Kenworth T680 trac- tors equipped with Cummins engines and automated manual transmissions, citing driver preference. The company plans to install PeopleNet electronic logging devices and fleet man- agement systems in its trucks beginning in April. CELADON GROUP now offers an $8,000 sign-on bonus and incentive plan for company team drivers and lease-purchase team operators. The bonus is performance- based, earned as mileage is accrued, and is available for teams that drive in the Indianapolis-based company's network. Each team member will receive $1,000 when the team reaches the 30,000-, 60,000-, 90,000- and 120,000- mile marks. BAYLOR TRUCKING announced a new pay scale that compen- sates drivers based on their verifiable experience, as well as their time with the Milan, Ind.- based company. Current drivers with more experience could see as much as a 4-cent-per-mile increase in base pay. Drivers with more than 2,500 weekly miles will receive a productivity incentive of an extra 1 cent per mile. The 200-truck company also increased its congestion pay for deliveries made in the New York City metropolitan area from $100 per load to $130.
