CRUZ was developed in 2005 by Todd Nelson and brothers Saulo and Joseph Pep Katcher, both of whom have family roots in Jalisco, Mexico. The tequila is made from estate-grown 100% pure blue agave from the highlands of the Los Altos region of Jalisco. CRUZ is bottled in hand- numbered, blown glass bottles, made from 100% recycled glass and aluminum. Constellation Brands, which owns 50% of Crown Imports LLC, a 50-50 joint venture with Grupo Modelo S.A.B. de C.V., signed an agreement with Anheuser-Busch InBev to purchase the remaining 50% interest in Crown, as AB InBev completes its pro- posed acquisition of Modelo. The purchase price is $1.85 billion. The transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close during the first quarter of calendar 2013. Constellation has also purchased the Mark West wine brand from Purple Wine Company, LLC for approximately $160 million ….The BevMo! and Total Wine & More chains each opened large beverage alcohol superstores in Washington State, less than a month after Washington changed its beverage alcohol laws to allow stores of more than 10,000 square feet to sell distilled spirits products. The new Total Wine store, at a former Larry's Market in Bellevue, measures almost 30,000 square feet. Total Wine plans to expand to 10 stores throughout the state.
