A healthy reflection "I feel better now than I have in 40 years and I owe this to the personal trainers at The Meyer Center," says Larry, a business owner who lives in Springfield. While walking past a mirror, Larry Posey caught a side view of himself. "I was shocked, then I realized it was me," says Larry, who says this eye-opening experience led him to join CoxHealth Fitness Centers. Larry started exercising on his own at The Meyer Center and lost several pounds, but became frustrated after some muscle sprains and charley horses. "I decided to try personal training," he says. Amasa Klineline and Mike Escalante, exercise specialists, set him up with a personalized exercise program. "I have Larry do strength training, stability exercises for his joints and core work to strengthen his back. He does cardio exercises on his own," explains Amasa. "We also work on functional training because he's an active guy who gardens, golfs and enjoys fishing. I work with him to prevent injuries and increase his overall conditioning." Larry continues to meet with Amasa every Monday. She provides him a schedule of exercises for the week. "I have lost more than 50 pounds and my blood pressure is lower because of regular exercise and a healthy diet," says Larry, whose doctor wanted him to start taking blood pressure medicine before he made these lifestyle changes.
