16 AGGREGATES MANAGER / July 2017 PLANT PROFILE Richards Spur plans to start the Kids Rock program soon. Kids Rock has been going on at Dolese's Davis and Hartshorne quarries for several years with great success. The educational program brings school children in for a tour of the plant and teaches them about the industry and how aggregates are in items that they use every day. Reaching out to children is a great way to have a more positive impact on their parents and the community. In another outreach effort, Richards Spur held its very first quarry run on April 1, 2017. Dolese had seen the success that Vulcan had with runs in its quarries and thought it might be fun to do one at one of its quarries. Richards Spur was chosen because of its proximity to Lawton and Fort Sill. "I contacted the Lawton Chamber of Commerce and the Director of Morale, Welfare & Recreation at Fort Sill and pitched the idea," Frank says.
