Todd McCorkle has truly been a dominant force
on the golf course for a number of years within the
Alabama-Northwest Florida Section of the PGA,
which is the governing body of golf club profes-
sionals across Alabama and Northwest Florida.
Old Overton Club's McCorkle, who has won the
Section's annual Player of the Year race an as-
tounding four years (and counting) in a row, tees
it up today in the U.S. Senior Open at Salem CC in
Peabody, Ma. He took the lone qualifying spot a
few weeks ago to get into the top championship in
all of senior golf.
Looking back on his dominance…
* Section Player of the Year last four years
* Assistant Player of the Year last five years
* Senior Player of the Year in 2015
He has qualified for the:
* PGA Professional Championship three times
* PGA Senior Professional Championship four
times
* PGA Assistant Professional Championship six
times
* U.S. Senior Open twice
POY rankings are based on play in Section
events throughout the year. Last year he earned
674.80 points to best Mike Genovese of Summit
Driving Range in Pensacola, Fla., who amassed 645
points.
McCorkle also led the Assistant POY points with
642, while Rock Creek Club's Todd Bailey, a former
four-time Alabama Open champion, was second
on 506 points.
The only POY McCorkle did not lead, and he was
eligible for it, was the Senior POY, captured by Rea
Todd McCorkle to tee it up in another senior major
