With college only a few years away, I was looking for ways to earn a little extra cash. So my dad, wise man that he is, gave me the best gift he could – an old, beat-up push mower – and sent me on my way. I made enough that spring and summer to buy a better mower the following year. And that mower earned me my first Grasshopper. By the time college enrollment came around, I was looking at trucks and trailers, had two buddies working alongside me and was building a reputation for
the best cut in town. Sure, it took me a bit longer to get that business degree – but it also ensured I never had to worry about tuition and books, and took the financial pressure off Mom and Dad. Now I've got both a successful business and a degree. And while I had to push a bit to get started, thanks to my Grasshoppers, the future looks like a pretty smooth ride.
